The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees was established on December 14, 1950 by the United Nations General Assembly. The agency is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect refugees and resolve refugee problems worldwide. Its primary purpose is to safeguard the rights and well-being of refugees. It also has a mandate to help stateless people.

In Mexico, UNHCR implements directly many activities related with supplying with goods and services UNHCR Offices, Stakeholders and Persons of Concern. 


The selected candidate will be assigned under the Supply Unit for a period of 4 months, working part-time, and will devote his/her time in providing support to different operational areas. We are looking for dynamic young professional that is eager to get more understanding of how operations work within UNHCR and since the supply unit provides support throughout the country, it would be an interesting opportunity to gain hands on experience.


  • Market research, identifying potential vendors by sectors etc.; 
  • Data analysis support the creation of different databases and update procurement of templates of the unit;
  • Maintain and update the archiving system the Unit;
  • Process optimization;
  • Undergo mapping exercises inter alia of financial services for our Cash Based programs.
  • Support UNHCR partner procurement activities 
  • Liaise with other UNHCR departments as per the instructions of the supervisor.








Essential Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Be a recent graduate or current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by UNESCO in the areas of Economics, business administration and management, accounting, foreign trade or related areas or;
  • Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in the above-mentioned fields. 
  • Good management of tools such as Excel and Power BI
  • Management of MS Office technology.
  • Able to communicate in English and Spanish.

Desirable Qualifications & Competencies




The internship (part-time) is expected to begin in May 2020 and last for a period of four (4) months. The role is flexible in terms of hours that the candidate could dedicate, but the unit will require that the expected candidate commits at least for 20 hours per week. Working hours are 8.30 am to 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday. 

Please note that the terms of internship, as defined by UNHCR practice, include the payment of a Food and Local Transportation Allowance (FLTA). In case the intern is sponsored by another source during the internship the FLTA is not provided, unless the sponsored intern receives funding less than the amount of allowance then UNHCR will pay the difference between this amount and the FLTA, if any.
